I CAN NEVER GET OVER IT the way they are always making fascinating discoveries about their relationship to us, AND THEN INTERPRETING IT ALL WRONG...But yes, what the landscum call teeth were originally SCALES that did certain specific jobs, AS SCALES WILL, and one thing led to another.

THINK OF OUR SISTERS, THE SHARKS.   They never run out of new teeth because their teeth are modified pieces of skin.  You never run out of skin, do you?

Well, a branch of the family went off in another direction entirely and now they all do this.
